Sr Electrical Technologist and Engineer (Marine Technology Company)

Base pay range: CA$92,000.00/yr - CA$124,000.00/yr.

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Electrical Technologist and a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the team at a leading marine technology company based in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. Both positions are hybrid and require a minimum of 3 days per week onsite. Relocation support is available.

Job Description

The roles involve supporting the full lifecycle of electrical engineering projects—from concept through completion—by assisting in the design, development, and testing of electrical systems, circuits, PCBs, wiring harnesses, and cable assemblies. Responsibilities include developing system architectures, integrating electrical components into larger systems, ensuring designs meet functionality, reliability, safety, and manufacturability standards, participating in design reviews, validating engineering deliverables, creating test plans, providing technical support during manufacturing and field operations, ensuring compliance with specifications and customer requirements, and mentoring junior engineers and technologists. The Electrical Engineer focuses on leading design, development, and integration of electrical systems, conducting circuit simulations, establishing design criteria, overseeing testing and validation, and supporting manufacturing, installation, and field operations. This position is a 4‑6 month contract with the possibility of extension.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Electrical Engineering Technology diploma (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience
  • Experience in specifying, installing, and connecting electrical equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot noise, distortion, cross‑talk, grounding, and similar issues
  • Experience working with high‑voltage systems
  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent background with a minimum of 8+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in reviewing PCB fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Linear DC and switched‑mode power supplies
  • Microcontrollers and digital signal processing
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers
  • Experience with sensors/telemetry
  • Experience with Altium, LabVIEW, Zuken E3, Colab
  • Experience with ABB motors and drives
  • Experience with embedded controllers
  • Skilled in using lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers)
