Farnsworth Group is seeking a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer - Energy & Utilities in one of the below posting locations. In this role, you will assume multi-project responsibilities for full Electrical design, including Power Distribution, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, Medium Voltage Systems, Substations, Lighting, and Communications for Oil & Gas, Industrial, Advanced Manufacturing, and Renewable Energy markets.

Posting Locations for this role: St. Louis, MO; Greenwood Village, CO (Denver Tech Center); Indianapolis, IN; Charlotte, NC; Peoria or Champaign, IL

Job Activities:
  1. Assume multi-project responsibilities for full Electrical design, including Power distribution, Lighting, Telecommunications, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, and electrical MV systems design for industrial and oil and gas markets.
  2. Actively manage day-to-day planning, staffing, and execution of large, complex projects assigned to the department.
  3. Engage in and assume responsibility for:
    • Code familiarity, research, and application
    • Fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions
    • Preliminary schematics through final designs
    • Calculations
    • Equipment specification, sizing, and layout
    • Preparation of accurate Electrical system construction drawings and specifications
    • Quality Control for team deliverables
    • Budgeting and financial tracking throughout different phases of project execution
    • Coordination with other production staff
    • Submittal review and construction administration.
  4. Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors.
  5. Maintain project design budgets and schedules while ensuring quality and meeting deadlines.
  6. This position involves significant client contact and responsibility for developing client relationships and business development.
  7. Assign responsibilities, mentor engineers, designers, and drafters.
  8. Report to an engineering manager who provides mentoring and training opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
Specific Requirements include:
  • Electrical engineer with 15+ years of experience in technically complex system design.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering. PE license is required.
  • Wide range of design experience, including industrial power distribution, controls, and MV systems.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Problem-solving skills in power engineering.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, and IEEE Standards.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with immunization requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
  • NCEES Record holder preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks, SKM PowerTools, or ETap is preferred.
