SUMMARY:

The Mississauga office is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. Projects executed out of Mississauga are primarily in the metals and energy sectors and consist of large EPCM and small operations support projects. We work in a multi-discipline engineering environment where every individual is empowered with the opportunity to make a difference.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Leads a team of Electrical Engineers, Designers and CAD personnel in the successful execution of electrical engineering and design for mining/mineral processing within budget and on schedule.
2. Provides technical leadership and guidance for the electrical team.
3. Mentor other engineers and designers.
4. Prepare and/or check electrical design products as required including but not limited to:
1. Vendor drawings and data for compliance with specifications.
2. Detailed design, supply, construction and installation specifications.
3. Conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals.
5. Ensures effective communication within project teams and with clients.
6. Report to Area Project Engineering Manager for project issues and to the overall Electrical Lead for functional issues.
7. Visit project sites and other Hatch design offices for project related activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Engineer with 8 plus years of relevant experience – preferably in an EPCM environment for industrial projects in utilities and/or metals.
2. Engineering degree and registered as a Professional Engineer with the P.E.O or another Canadian Professional Engineering Association.
3. Good oral and written communication skills.
4. Knowledge of industry, regulatory codes and standards:
1. Electrical Installations – e.g. OESC, NEC, CEC.
2. Safety Systems – e.g. ULC, IEC, NFPA.
3. Electrical and Automation – e.g. ISA, IEEE.
4. Nuclear specific (preferred) – e.g. CSA N290.5, N290.7, N290.14, N286.
5. Knowledgeable with the following design tools and software packages: SmartPlant, AutoDesk, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower and ASPEN.
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
7. Advanced computer skills.
