Electrical Engineer Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and review of electrical systems for various projects. Responsibilities include:
- Design of power, lighting, and basic control systems.
- Detailed cable tray design, including layout and 3D modeling.
- Heat tracing calculations and layout of isometric drawings.
- Inspection of on-skid electrical shop activities.
- Selection and procurement of electrical materials and major equipment buyouts.
- Development of cable schedules, including cable sizing and selection of connectors and trays.
- Preparation of block diagrams for fire alarm risers, breaker, and starter interlocking/logic schemes.
- Preparation of data sheets and detailed material take-offs.
- Ensuring compliance with material standards and regulations.
- Design of motor control systems for low and medium voltage applications.
- Design of switchgear layouts and control systems for low and medium voltage.
- Development of hazardous area classifications according to CSA, API, and IEC standards.
- Development of single line diagrams using North American and international symbols.
- Review of project deliverables produced by other electrical team members.
- Assisting in the development of department standards, installation details, specifications, and procedures.
- Electrical estimating for skid fabrication, tray and cable layouts on main pipe racks, site lighting, grounding, MCC, and control buildings.
- Conducting coordination studies, short circuit analysis, load flow, grounding (step and touch potentials), and harmonic analysis using ETAP.
- Coordinating scope of work with other disciplines.
- Preparing Certificates of Compliance for electrical equipment.
- Providing engineering support to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
- Assisting the design/drafting department in coordinating project deliverables.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related industry with a strong emphasis on skid fabrication.
Education and Accreditation
- Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering Registration (P.Eng or P.L. (Eng)) with APEGA or equivalent.
