Job summary

Bank of Montreal (BMO) is seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst to help improve how Commercial Banking manages, governs, and leverages data. You’ll investigate complex data issues, build data quality controls, and automate governance processes to enable better decision-making.

You will design, implement and operate ETL pipelines, ensure data security, and work with data stewards, analytics partners, and technology teams to modernize the function using AI and emerging tech.

Job Family Group: Data Analytics & Reporting

We're looking for a curious, analytical, and business-minded Senior Data Governance Analyst to help improve how Commercial Banking manages, governs, and leverages data. This is not a traditional governance role focused solely on policies and documentation. You'll investigate complex data issues, identify root causes, build data quality controls, automate governance processes, and help modernize the function through AI and emerging technologies. Working closely with business leaders, technology teams, data stewards, and analytics partners, you'll ensure critical business data is accurate, trusted, and ready to support better decision-making. If you enjoy solving data problems, improving processes, working with SQL and automation tools, and finding innovative ways to turn trusted data into business value, we'd love to hear from you.

Designs, builds and operates ETL and pipeline development activities and modeling solutions that facilitate data storage, integration, management, data quality, validation and security, supporting the entire data asset lifecycle. Designs, implements and maintains data flow channels and data processing systems that support the collection, storage, batch and real‑time processing, and analysis of information in a scalable, repeatable and secure manner. Manages corporate apps and data in the cloud and technical tasks involved in planning, architecting, migrating, monitoring, and management of enterprise cloud systems. Supports the creation and enforcement of policies for effective data management. Formulates techniques for effective data management, quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data. Devises and implements efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects. Supports the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards. Establish rules and procedures for data sharing. Monitors and analyzes information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.) Ensures digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses. Troubleshoots data‑related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications. Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise‑wide focus. Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Salary

Salary: $55,500.00 - $120,000.00 Pay Type: Salaried The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
