Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT and cyber security.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and managing enterprise security controls and technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber security operations, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Deep understanding of network, server, endpoint, cloud, and application security principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Title: Senior Cyber Security Analyst
Location: Canada (Remote)
Type: Full-Time Term Position (12 Months with strong potential to become permanent)

The Position:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Analyst to support the design, management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise cyber security platforms and controls. As a senior-level resource, you are focused on strategic security initiatives, platform administration, security operations maturity, risk reduction, and mentoring junior analysts.

You will bring strong hands‑on cyber security expertise, excellent analytical and investigative skills, and the ability to lead initiatives that enhance organizational security posture while supporting business objectives. This individual will play a key role in developing procedures, improving operational effectiveness, and providing guidance to less experienced team members.

What You'll Do:
Security Operations & Technology Management
  • Design, manage, administer, and maintain enterprise security tools and platforms.
  • Ensure security controls are configured and maintained in alignment with industry best practices, vendor recommendations, and security frameworks.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of security controls and recommend enhancements to reduce organizational risk.
  • Evaluate security technologies and recommend improvements to security architecture and operations.
  • Support the ongoing development and maturity of cyber security capabilities across the organization.
Threat Detection, Incident Response & Risk Management
  • Investigate security incidents and provide second-level escalation support.
  • Conduct threat hunting activities to identify and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Analyze security events and alerts to determine appropriate response actions.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Assess risks affecting systems, networks, applications, and cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain incident response procedures and security playbooks.
  • Support security audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
Security Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop, document, and maintain security procedures, standards, and operating practices.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance cyber security controls, processes, and governance.
  • Promote security awareness and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Stay informed on emerging threats, attack techniques, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to operational planning and security roadmap initiatives.
Leadership, Mentorship & Collaboration
  • Provide senior-level guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior security analysts.
  • Assist in developing procedures and operational processes for the security team.
  • Serve as a technical resource for security-related initiatives and projects.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, technology teams, and external partners.
  • Communicate technical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in project planning, prioritization activities, and security initiatives.
Infrastructure & Cloud Security
  • Monitor and assess network, endpoint, server, and cloud security controls.
  • Support Microsoft-based security technologies and enterprise security solutions.
  • Evaluate infrastructure and application environments for security risks.
  • Recommend improvements that align with security best practices and organizational requirements.
  • Assist with securing cloud and hybrid technology environments.
Mandatories:
  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience within a combination of Information Technology and cyber security environments.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and managing enterprise security controls and technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber security operations, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Deep understanding of network, server, endpoint, cloud, and application security principles.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience designing, documenting, and improving security procedures and operational processes.
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and support junior team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex workloads with minimal supervision.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent advanced cyber security certification.
Assets:
  • Experience within financial services, banking, credit union, or highly regulated environments.
  • Microsoft security certifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Security and Microsoft Azure Security.
  • Knowledge of CIS Controls, CIS Benchmarks, MITRE ATT&CK, ITIL, and COBIT frameworks.
  • Experience with threat intelligence, security auditing, and compliance programs.
  • Advanced experience securing Windows Enterprise environments.
  • Experience leading security improvement initiatives and technology projects.
  • SANS or other recognized cyber security certifications.
