Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Content Designer based in Canada.

The Senior Content Designer will shape how patients experience and understand digital healthcare throughout their care journey.
You will transform complex healthcare information into clear, engaging, and accessible content that helps people make informed decisions and feel confident about their next steps.
Working within a collaborative product and R&D environment, you will partner with product managers, designers, lifecycle marketers, and clinical teams.
You will develop messaging strategies and create content across digital products, emails, push notifications, and other patient communication channels.
As the first content design specialist on the team, you will have the opportunity to establish the content design practice, define its standards, and influence how teams communicate.
You will also explore AI-powered tools and workflows to improve content quality, consistency, and production at scale.

Accountabilities

The Senior Content Designer will lead content strategy and execution across patient-facing digital experiences, ensuring that every interaction is clear, consistent, and aligned with patient needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Shape communication throughout the patient journey by identifying what patients need to know, what matters most to them, and how to make their next steps clear.

  • Develop and test messaging concepts and positioning strategies, using data and patient feedback to refine content and improve engagement.

  • Write clear, engaging copy for product experiences, emails, push notifications, and other communication channels.

  • Create content supporting key stages of the patient journey, including onboarding, ongoing care, and re-engagement.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and lifecycle marketers to ensure product experiences and patient communications deliver a consistent message.

  • Translate complex healthcare information into approachable, accessible language while partnering with clinical and marketing teams to maintain accuracy and consistency.

  • Apply and evolve the brand voice, balancing warmth, clarity, and empathy while adapting tone to different patient needs and communication contexts.

  • Manage content projects from initial concepts through writing, review, delivery, and continuous improvement.

  • Explain content decisions, incorporate feedback, and advocate for effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Develop practical content guidelines, tools, and processes, including AI-powered workflows, to help teams create high-quality, consistent content independently.

  • Strengthen writing capabilities across the organization through constructive feedback, coaching, and content critiques.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced content professional who combines exceptional writing skills with strategic thinking, strong editorial judgment, and the ability to build a new practice in a fast-moving environment. The following qualifications are expected:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in content design, UX writing, or copywriting for a consumer-facing digital product or service. A previous job title of Content Designer is not required.

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on writing across digital product experiences and customer communications, supported by clear strategic thinking.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complex information clear, concise, engaging, and human.

  • Strong editorial judgment and meticulous attention to detail, including accuracy, grammar, and consistency.

  • Experience using AI writing tools, including prompt development, voice and channel guidelines, and evaluating AI-generated content for quality and consistency.

  • Enthusiasm for exploring new AI applications and improving content design workflows.

  • Ability to communicate and explain creative and strategic decisions effectively.

  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • A proactive, resourceful, and adaptable approach, with the initiative to establish content design processes and build a practice from the ground up.

Benefits
  • Annual salary: CAD $110,000-$140,000.

  • Competitive compensation package.

  • Stock option grant.

  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • Maternity and paternity leave policy.

  • Four weeks of vacation, including three weeks to use throughout the year and one week during the holidays.

  • Fully remote-first working environment, with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada.

  • Professional development opportunities.
