Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Senior Commercial Lawyer to join a leading organization operating in a highly regulated environment. This individual will serve as a strategic legal advisor to business leaders, providing guidance on complex commercial, privacy, regulatory, and contractual matters while helping the organization manage risk and support business growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to business units on a variety of complex commercial and operational matters.


• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements.


• Partner closely with sales, operations, product, and leadership teams to support business initiatives and contract negotiations.


• Advise on privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance matters, including issues involving the collection, use, and transfer of personal information.


• Conduct legal and business risk assessments related to contracts, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.


• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide guidance on potential business impacts.


• Support corporate governance, compliance, and risk management initiatives.


• Develop and deliver legal training and education programs for internal stakeholders.


• Collaborate with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and organizational objectives.


• Build strong relationships across the organization and serve as a trusted advisor to key business partners.

Skills and Requirements

• J.D. or LL.B. from an accredited law school.


• Member in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society.


• 10+ years of experience practicing law.


• Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.


• Demonstrated experience providing practical legal advice to business stakeholders.


• Solid understanding of corporate and commercial law principles.


• Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.


• Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.


• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Technologically proficient and comfortable using modern legal and business tools.


• Experience in a regulated industry such as financial services, fintech, healthcare, telecommunications, insurance, or similar sectors.


• Knowledge of privacy legislation, consumer reporting legislation, administrative law, and related regulatory frameworks.


• Experience supporting commercial or sales-focused business teams.


• Previous in-house legal experience.


• Bilingualism in English and French.
