AEM is looking for a highly motivated Sr. Cloud Administrator to support our cloud-based infrastructure. We gather and analyze environmental observations from around the world to help promote a better understanding of the planet and its atmosphere. The company operates the world’s largest network of weather sensors and precise greenhouse gas data measurements. The company builds enterprise data services and information applications for enterprise and government customers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure uptime and reliability
- Evaluate and prioritize cloud infrastructure requests from multiple business units by assessing technical complexity and business value
- Ensure cloud infrastructure and operations comply with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) and internal security policies
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins to streamline application delivery and infrastructure provisioning through automation and best practices.
- Create, maintain, and improve our Infrastructure as Code use via Terraform
- Own the creation and upkeep of technical documentation that empowers the support team to resolve incidents quickly and accurately
- Manage, discover and drive cloud cost optimization strategies
- Provide off-hours support for critical infrastructure issues on an as-needed basis, ensuring timely resolution of incidents

Job Qualifications:- 5+ years of progressively responsible, hands-on operations experience utilizing Amazon Web Services Cloud infrastructure and cloud services.
- Technical experience required:
- Linux and Windows Server OS management and maintenance
- instance and container build processes and their tools; Packer, Docker, EC2 Image Builder
- AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, CodeDeploy, CloudWatch, Fargate/ECS, Lambda, VPC, ALB, CloudFront, MSK, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation
- CI/CD support utilizing Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
- Experience with IIS (Internet Information Services), Active Directory, .NET and other applications in the Windows ecosystem
- Basic SQL administration and management capability of database technologies (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
- Experience managing networking, routing, firewalls, load balancing, etc in an hybrid environment
- Jira and other Atlassian product experience a plus
- IT certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Associate level or similar preferred)
- Ability to interact with teams in a professional, articulate manner
- Communicates effectively with both technical staff and senior leadership
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Able to learn and adapt to recent technologies through self-directed training
Preferred Experience:- Support for customer facing services including API, SaaS (software as a service), and DaaS (Data as a Service) support
- Implementing advanced monitoring tools focused on monitoring cloud-based systems
Additional Information:This is a remote opportunity that can be done from anywhere in the continental United States and/or Canada
