Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Leader, National Casualty and Bodily Injury Claims, you have a track record of progressively challenging claims handling. You will be accountable for the investigation, negotiation and settlement of Senior Third Party Bodily Injury and Casualty claims. This includes Automobile, Homeowners, and Commercial third party claims. You are motivated by a challenge and strive to continually develop yourself and others. You actively support change and seek to improve. You have effectively managed a portfolio of Casualty and Bodily Injury claims of increasing complexity. You continually support the Team environment and raise your hand to assist others including mentoring junior team members. You have a desire to be part of a diverse, highly engaged and high-performance team.
  • Engage all stakeholders in the effective management of a claim including underwriting and senior leadership
  • Confirm policy coverages, investigate claims to determine liability and quantum. Maintain detailed file records.
  • Attend / participate in mediations, pre-trials and settlement initiatives.
  • Settle claims directly with claimants and with Plaintiff’s Counsel.
  • Direct and Instruct Defence Counsel.
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Maintain a professional, friendly, and courteous demeanor in all interactions with customers, co-workers or vendors
  • Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
  • Strive to continually push the boundaries of your adjusting experience and personal learnings
  • Be a team player adaptable to changing environments
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
What you bring to the role
  • University degree, a college diploma or the CIP designation
  • Comfortable and experienced working on Ontario auto BI and CGL claims
  • Minimum 3 years of claims handling experience in Bodily Injury / Casualty Litigation
  • Notable Commercial General Liability Claims handling experience, both Bodily Injury and Property damage
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions
  • Ability to perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
  • Team player adaptable to a changing environment
  • A passion for coaching and mentoring junior staff
  • Dependable with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Focus on building engagement and culture
  • Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
  • Licensed in multiple provinces is an asset
  • Atrantic licensing an asset

Salary range is $58,100 - $106,900
