Job summary

Swoon is seeking a senior CICS Systems Programmer to join our Scarborough/Toronto hybrid team. You will act as a technical resource for the CICS infrastructure on z/OS, leading installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades and support of IBM products.

You will mentor junior staff and contribute to platform standards while collaborating across technical teams. The role requires hands-on CICS on z/OS experience, 5–10+ years in the field, and strong diagnostic skills with SMP/E, Omegamon,

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of CICS and/or mainframe experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting CICS on z/OS.
• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading IBM mainframe products.
• Strong understanding of CICS and CICSPlex and z/OS architecture.
• Experience with z/OS diagnostic tools.
• Working knowledge of IBM SMP/E.
• Experience with Omegamon and System Automation is valuable.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

• Participate in rotating after-hours/on-call support.

Work Arrangement: 2 days/week onsite

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday–Friday with rotating after-hours/on-call support

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with hands-on CICS systems programming experience, rather than someone whose background is primarily CICS application development.

Required / Key Experience

• 5–10+ years of CICS and/or relevant mainframe experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting CICS on z/OS.
• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting IBM mainframe products.
• Strong understanding of CICS and CICSPlex.
• Strong understanding of z/OS architecture and components.
• Experience with z/OS and CICS diagnostic tools.
• Working knowledge of IBM SMP/E.
• Experience with Omegamon and/or System Automation is valuable.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical teams.

A Key Differentiator

Hands-on IBM SMP/E experience is highly valuable for this role.

We are specifically looking for candidates who have personally worked on the installation, maintenance, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management of IBM mainframe products.

Education

College/University education or equivalent professional experience.
