Job summary

East West Manufacturing is seeking a Senior Buyer to lead sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management for electronic build manufacturing and maintenance operations. This role balances cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and risk to ensure supply continuity.

You will partner with engineering, planning, operations, and suppliers to resolve issues, drive improvements, and manage supplier performance. A Bachelor’s degree and 5–7+ years in purchasing are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience.
  • Manufacturing experience, electronics preferred.
  • Experience with supplier management, cost reduction, and inventory control.
  • APICS CPSM CPM or similar certification is a plus.
  • Strong procurement principles and supplier relationship knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate, and purchase materials, components, equipment, and services.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships for pricing and delivery.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and conditions for cost savings.
  • Manage purchase orders, expedite materials, and resolve shortages.
  • Analyze demand, inventory, and supplier performance data.
  • Support ECNs, DMR processes, and material disposition activities.
  • Manage non-conforming, obsolete, and excess material disposition.
  • Support vendor corrective actions and follow up on issues.
  • Maintain purchasing records and ensure ISO compliance.
  • Utilize ERP, purchasing, and EDI systems to process transactions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement within purchasing and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supply risks.

Job description

The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading the sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities required to support electronic build manufacturing, general operations, and maintenance operations. This role balances cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and risk to ensure supply continuity and operational excellence.

The Senior Buyer partners closely with internal stakeholders, engineering, planning, quality, operations, and suppliers to resolve supply issues, support production requirements, manage supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement throughout the purchasing function.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Source, evaluate, and purchase materials, components, equipment, and services in support of manufacturing and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, reliable delivery, and high-quality performance.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and conditions to achieve cost savings and support business objectives.
  • Manage purchase orders, expedite critical materials, and resolve shortages to support production continuity.
  • Analyze demand, inventory, and supplier performance data to support inventory reduction, cost containment, and supply assurance.
  • Partner with internal teams to support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Documented Material Review (DMR) processes, and material disposition activities.
  • Manage non-conforming, obsolete, and excess material disposition in accordance with company policy and customer requirements.
  • Support vendor corrective action requests and follow up on quality, delivery, and service issues as needed.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and ISO requirements.
  • Utilize ERP, purchasing, and EDI systems to process transactions, monitor order status, and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and broader supply chain operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supply risks, improve processes, and support business goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably electronics or electronic build manufacturing, strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting supplier management, cost reduction, inventory control, and material planning required.
  • Experience with ERP systems, purchasing systems, and EDI preferred.
  • APICS, CPSM, CPM, or similar professional certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, supplier management, and manufacturing supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and manage supplier relationships strategically.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Experience managing supply shortages, inventory optimization, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of ISO policies and purchasing procedures.
  • Familiarity with ECN, DMR, non-conforming material, and material disposition processes.
  • Experience using ERP systems, with Epicor preferred.
  • Experience using Business Operating System (BOS) purchasing modules preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of quoting systems, supplier pricing structures, and purchasing workflows.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other standard business software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across departments and influence outcomes.
