Position: Senior Business Analyst in Information Controls Technology

The Information Controls technology team builds and executes complex surveillance models and scenarios that focus on monitoring and enforcing the firm's information barriers.

A business analyst in this space partners with developers and drives the business agenda through solid requirements analysis and execution.

The eCommunications Surveillance program within Information Controls Technology is transitioning from a legacy platform to a modern technology stack.

The individual in this role will collaborate with the vendor to understand the new product and align existing workflows and scenarios with the updated surveillance framework. This includes knowledge of monitoring use cases for both audio and electronic communications, handling unstructured data, and experience with large-scale data analytics (Regex, NLP, AI filtering).

Additionally, the candidate should have expertise in extracting data from SaaS platforms, manipulating it for on-premise reporting, and working closely with Compliance to achieve targeted outcomes. The candidate should be self-driven, dedicated, able to work well with technical and non-technical audiences, adaptable to change, and innovative in solving challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Define project objectives, scope, and oversee quality control throughout its lifecycle, including refining business requirements and creating detailed user stories.
  2. Work hands-on with data to develop solutions and identify issues or opportunities.
  3. Be a self-motivated team player committed to timely delivery and capable of working independently.
  4. Collaborate within a global virtual team across multiple time zones.
  5. Document business and functional requirements, workflows, business rules, and use cases.
  6. Understand and document data requirements for surveillance scenarios and monitoring.
  7. Create documentation outlining data lineage and data governance frameworks.
  8. Become a subject matter expert for compliance data.
  9. Work with developers to define and document application infrastructure and architecture.
  10. Assist with QA/testing, reviewing and refining test plans and cases.
  11. Identify and resolve issues during projects and daily operations.
  12. Manage scope changes, risks, and develop contingency plans.
  13. Build and maintain relationships with IT and business stakeholders.
  14. Monitor data issues and perform impact assessments on critical processes.
  15. Conduct root cause analysis and collaborate with Business and IT to resolve data issues.
  16. Understand Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and work closely with development and QA teams.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 7-10 years of experience in a large banking or consulting organization in a technology business analyst role.
  • Understanding of technology environments, organizational structures, and cultures.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret business needs into application and operational requirements.
  • Proficiency in database/SQL skills.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
  • Ability to multitask across projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications: Excel, MS Project, Visio, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Technical background in integration, development, or infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of tools like Smarsh, Digital Reasoning, Veritas, Actimize, or similar is a plus.
  • Experience in financial services, especially banking and compliance technology.
