SUMMARY

BGIS ITS Canada Ltd., a division of BGIS, is seeking an experienced Senior BAS Technician. The Senior Building Automation System Technician is responsible for servicing and maintaining Building Automation Systems (BAS) in client facilities. This includes attending client sites to perform service and preventive maintenance, programming, downloading, and installing BAS hardware and software, creating custom graphical user interfaces, and implementing energy and operational optimization initiatives.

BAS Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with clients and team members, ensuring effective communication.
  2. Develop and implement project and service strategies to meet performance goals.
  3. Plan, develop, implement, mentor, and lead field team members supporting the BAS Manager.
  4. Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and developing team members.
  5. Contribute to growing the BAS service clientele.
  6. Support the delivery of construction project scope and related services.
  7. Program and create graphics for HVAC equipment using software and verify system performance.
  8. Integrate building automation software with third-party systems via network connections.
  9. Simulate sequences of operations to verify system performance using appropriate software.
  10. Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage power equipment, network communications, peripherals, valves, actuators, relays, and sensors during commissioning.
  11. Commission BAS systems, verify operation, and report or resolve anomalies.
  12. Provide commissioning verification checklists to Project Managers during commissioning.
  13. Verify installation and operation of electrical and electronic equipment related to BAS.
  14. Perform inspections, tests, and adjustments of low-voltage electronic components per manufacturer specifications.
  15. Understand HVAC equipment and mechanical components in relation to control strategies.
  16. Use technical manuals and instructions for calibration and troubleshooting.
  17. Complete service reports and preventive maintenance checklists during site visits.
  18. Assist in preparing specifications and reports for projects by collecting and analyzing data.
  19. Mentor and train employees effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technician, Technologist diploma, or Engineering degree in a related field to BAS.
  • Ability to self-learn and transfer knowledge to team members.
  • At least 7 years of related experience.
  • Certification in Tridium Niagara AX – N4.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC equipment and control strategies.
  • Extensive experience with BAS system installations and integrations.
  • Knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and process-driven environment.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
