Compensation Details :

  • Business Development 16: Salaries typically range from $72,840 to $97,121 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office2 days per week.(subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.

Team & Job Overview

The Canadian Corporate Business (CCB) Group is looking for a Sr. Associate in our Ottawa office, reporting to the Director of the Canadian Corporate Sectors of the Future (CCSF) team.CCB is responsible for managing EDC’s largest and most globally active Canadian corporate exporters. The team works to leverage EDC in a manner that serves its clients as they expand their global footprint with innovative international financing and insurance solutions. These relationships are managed by Global Account Directors (GAD) who have overall accountability for identifying, developing, and expanding these important long-term relationships. The role of the Sr. Associate is to contribute to the success of Canadian Large Corporates. One of the key functions is to support assigned GADs to meet the needs of these clients and to liaise with dedicated EDC virtual account teams composed of financial product, service and knowledge specialists who have shared responsibility for the development and implementation of strategies to expand each client relationship.

As a Senior Associate on the CCSF team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our strategic vision and initiatives. You will have the opportunity to learn about all EDC products and services, work closely with experienced front-line staff, and collaborate with the Director on the team strategies and vision. You will also develop an extensive network of internal partners, fostering valuable connections and professional relationships. What you will be doing :

1. Account Management/Relationship Management

  • Support the Global Account Director (GAD) in onboarding and meeting the needs of their portfolio clients as well as new prospects
    • Act as a representative for the GADs with internal financial product teams, advisory services, and other stakeholders.
    • Occasionally participate in GADs’ client meetings to discuss relationship matters, transaction opportunities, and to understand the company's strategies.
    • Reach out to customers for information to assist with onboarding a client or a prospect, as requested by the GADs.
  • Assists in developing Account Plans and related strategies to expand account relationships

2. Transaction Management

  • Coordinates EDC resources to ensure smooth interaction between underwriters, advisory services, and external counterparties throughout the transaction lifecycleacross all EDC products/solutions
  • Monitors the progression of transaction pipeline and is involved in transaction facilitation to ensure a high service delivery standard to our customers
  • Champions customer issues and resolves problems efficiently and effectively
  • Contributes to the overall business results and targets for the CCB team

3. Strategy and Operations

  • Builds and maintains knowledge of clients' business and industry
  • Responsible for updating business results and forecasts, and contributing to the business planning process and reporting
  • Coordinates with the Analytics and Net Promoter Score (NPS) teams to ensure the accuracy and optimization of the team's reporting in dashboards
  • Leverage the Account Services team to review and update customer and prospect data in our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with the team’s Director on strategic activities
  • Work with GADs to showcase the team’s achievements across the Organization and represent the team in meetings with internal partners
  • Key contributor to Continuous Improvement initiatives

4. Prospecting

  • Help triage requests from new large segment companies
  • Support the preparation of material for prospecting initiatives and meetings, designed to expand EDC’s client portfolio

What we are looking for :

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce and a basic level of financial literacy
  • Minimum 3 years of business development experience, including client relationship management with a focus on international financing and risk management transactions
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and work with virtual teams
  • Located in Ottawa

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Holds or is working towards a professional designation (CITP, CBCA, etc.)
