PositionSummary

The Applications Engineer provides technical expertise to support Canadian Solar’s energy storage solutions. This position will be responsible for the pre-sales activities of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) including system sizing, preliminary design, and value engineering. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of BESS integration, specifically withexperiencedevelopinganddeliveringenergystoragesystems.

Thisrolewillrequirethechosencandidatetoworkcloselywiththecommercialandengineeringteamsto help develop proposals for new storage project opportunities and provide technical support to respond to customer needs. A senior level position will be considered for candidates with the right experience.

Responsibilities:

• BeatechnicalliaisonfortheSalesteamtocustomersandpartners,andanexpertresource for general product specifications and value engineering discussions.
• AnalyzeRFPorothercustomerdocumentationtodetermineprojectscope,schedule, specifications, risk, and technical requirements.
• Developsizemodelsandconceptualdrawingssets(electricalsingle-linediagrams,site layouts, etc.).
• Preparetechnicaldocumentationforproposalsandcoordinatethebidpackagepreparation with other departments.
• Workcloselywithsalesstaff,engineering,andprocurementtoensurecompleteandshared project understanding and priorities.
• Conducttechnicalpresentationsandprovideclarificationstocustomersandother departments.
• Executetechnicalexhibitsforsupplyandcommissioningcontracts.
• AssessingrequirementsandmethodologiesforintegratingnewBESSprojectsintoexisting PV systems.

QualificationsandSkills:

• Bachelor’sdegreeinengineering(preferablyElectricalorMechanical)
• Directexperienceinbatteryenergystoragesystems,utility-scalesolar,orrenewablecritical power solutions, preferably as an applications engineer.
• ProficientinAutoCADorrelatedsoftware.
• Exceptionaltechnicalaptitudeincludingtheabilitytoreadandfullyunderstandengineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
• SolidunderstandingofULregulatorystandardsrelatedtoenergystorageandgrid- interactive inverters.
• Globalperspectiveandawareness,anddirectexperienceworkingacrossdiverseculturesin a multinational company would be beneficial.
• Anexcellenttimemanager,abletobalancemultipleprojectsandprioritizeabroadvariety of issues, initiatives, and objectives concurrently.
