What you'll be doing

As a member of CIBC's tech team, you will analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflows, logical processes, hardware and OS environment, interfaces with other systems, checks, controls, and outputs for Tier 1 critical applications such as Chequing/Savings and Loan accounts. Your role includes providing estimates for work packages to support project planning; analyzing feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility; and ensuring application performance levels are met. You will perform complex programming activities including coding, testing, debugging, documenting, maintaining, and modifying applications. The role requires judgment and autonomy in daily tasks, including data source analysis and negotiations with users regarding requirements.

Details on work arrangements (on-site vs remote) will be discussed during your interview.

How you'll succeed
  • Programming Skills: Develop, code, and test applications end-to-end. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including debugging.

  • Systems Implementation: Participate in technical design, development, and integration of multi-platform application systems.

  • Troubleshooting and Technical Skills: Collaborate with business and tech partners to address impact issues, ensure security and regulatory compliance, and provide technical guidance.

  • Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with team members, clients, and vendors. Lead discussions, ask questions, and communicate effectively.

  • Experience: Mainframe development with JCL, COBOL, VSAM, SyncSort, Easytrieve. Knowledge of project methodologies is beneficial.

  • Education: Degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field.
