Job summary

Nutrien seeks a Sr. Analyst, Tax Compliance & Reporting for Calgary, AB or Saskatoon, SK. The role targets a mid-senior level with on-site work and full-time hours, focusing on Canadian corporate income tax filings, provisions, and audits.

Ideal candidates have a CPA designation and at least 6+ years in Canadian tax, plus ERP/tax software skills. You’ll join a global team delivering precise tax analyses in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent professional designation required.
  • Minimum 6+ years of Canadian corporate income tax experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, S4, Oracle) and tax software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Canadian income tax filings and remittances.
  • Prepare tax provisions and working papers for monthly, quarterly and year-end cycles.
  • Follow up notices of assessments and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support federal and provincial audits with information requests and responses.
  • Assist with SR&ED claims and intercompany reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical tax issues and accounting standards.
  • Identify process automation opportunities and improve workflows.

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare Canadian income tax filings and remittances
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax provisions and working papers as required, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Ensure follow up of notice of assessments and investigate any discrepancies including preparation and recording adjusting journal entries
  • Research technical issues regarding corporate income tax matters
  • Support the team on all federal or provincial audits, including gathering information, addressing incoming correspondence and drafting responses to audit queries
  • Assist with the completion of Scientific Research & Experimental Development claims including preparation of supporting working papers
  • Assist in the preparation of management fee allocations and other intercompany reporting as required
  • Maintain knowledge with respect to technical tax issues and accounting standards
  • Identify process automation opportunities and implement technology solutions. Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work process
  • Comply with company standards, policies, controls, and procedures pertaining to appropriate conduct for employees
  • Other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation required
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in Canadian Corporate income tax
  • A strong preference will be given to candidates who have commenced the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program and who have working knowledge of Canadian corporate taxation; however, individuals interested in pursuing the In-Depth Tax Program will be considered
  • Experience with ERP systems (i.e. SAP, S4, Oracle, etc.) and tax preparation software preferred
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliver results within deadlines
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively, with a commitment to continuous improvement
