Job summary

Nutrien, a global leader in crop inputs, is seeking an IT SOX professional to join our Calgary on-site team. You will plan, test, and report on IT general controls and application controls, working with IT, Finance, and external auditors to strengthen Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

You will mentor a team of IT SOX professionals, assess risk across the IT environment, and provide practical recommendations to address control deficiencies while supporting Nutrien's international operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in IT or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience with 6+ years IT SOX in a large public company or public accounting firm.
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification.
• Strong understanding of IT risk and control frameworks (COSO/ COBIT).
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess risk in Nutrien’s IT environment.
• Lead and coach IT SOX professionals, including performance management and mentoring.
• Evaluate security, reliability, integrity and governance of IT systems.
• Conduct IT SOX testing, document controls, and design test plans.

• Collaborate with external auditors and IT, Finance, and senior management.
• Document findings and provide recommendations to address deficiencies.
• Ensure follow-up to address deficiencies effectively.

Job Summary

This position is required to be on-site and is located in Calgary, AB / Saskatoon, SK.

Reporting to the Director, Internal Control, working with IT control managers testing ITGCs and ITACs, you will be part of the team responsible for planning, executing, and reporting results of audit procedures, primarily relating to the assessment of financial controls over financial reporting to address the requirements of the Sarbanes Oxley Act.

You will be viewed as an IT controls advisor, working closely with process owners to support and maintain an effective IT control environment.

The position offers a unique opportunity to see and understand controls across a broad range of Nutrien’s diversified, international operations.

What You'll Do

• Identify and assess risk associated with Nutrien’s Information Technology (IT) environment
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of IT SOx professionals, providing performance management, work direction, mentoring, and technical guidance
• Evaluate the security, reliability, integrity and governance of the IT environment and application systems across all platforms utilized by Nutrien’s in-scope business units
• Conduct IT SOX based work to assess the IT control design over new and changing internal processes and controls, identifying and documenting key IT controls, designing and conducting test plans, and assessing results
• Manage the planning and execution of IT SOX activities, including the testing and review of Information Technology General Controls (ITGCs) and Information Technology Application Controls (ITACs)
• Assess the results of key IT control testing with IT process owners
• Work with the company's external auditors to discuss findings and potential solutions
• Interact with IT, Finance and senior administration concerning findings and recommendations resulting from SOX and the external auditor's work
• Document testing results and provide recommendations for control deficiencies identified
• Conduct appropriate follow‑up to ensure deficiencies have been effectively addressed

What You'll Bring

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization
• Bachelor degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience with 6 years IT SOX or audit experience in a large public company or public accounting firm
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Thorough understanding of, and experience with, IT risk and control frameworks, SOX based requirements for major corporations, including COSO and COBIT
• Experience with large ERP systems, preferably SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft
• Proficiency with Visio and Microsoft Office Suite of products
• Able to work self guided with limited direct supervision
• Commitment to deadlines and attention to detail
