The Specialist, Collections & Recoveries contributes to the overall success of the Collections vertical by building an in-house solution to manage the Recoveries lifecycle. Key deliverables include building systemic solutions for Recovery related processes, while integrating collections systems in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and delivery of regularly scheduled processes to facilitate flawless execution at 3rd party agencies while managing Fairstone Bank’s operations.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize QuickSight, SAS and Excel to extract, manipulate and report on business results to provide value-added and timely collection strategy and agency results.
  • Support the development of dashboards, trends, and analysis of collection projects to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of pilot projects.
  • Perform regular monitoring of results to ensure stability in collection performance and communicate anomalies quickly and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain documentation governing processes and procedures pertaining to all reporting and dashboards requirements for ongoing monitoring and pilot projects.
  • Transform raw data into meaningful information to be used for monitoring and decision-making across the Collection department.
  • Keep abreast of emerging delinquency and collection trends, and new tools in the financial industry.
  • Provide automation support within the department to make collection tasks more efficient and accurate.
  • Support the delivery of Collection Systems and technology projects that contribute to the delivery and execution of the in-house Recovery process to deliver on objectives.
  • Act as a direct liaison and represent the Collection System to its partners within Technology and Operations.
  • Front-end with 3rd Party Collections agencies to ensure they deploy best-in-class processes to ingest data and deliver Recovery objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes within the technical and functional design of the existing Collection System.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
  • Champion a customer-focused & compliant culture while delivering results.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years analytics work experience in the financial services industry, preferably with a focus on Collections.
  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, actuarial sciences, engineering, or mathematics preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of collections and personal delinquency in a financial service setting across Consumer loans, Mastercard, Retail Cards and Auto segments.
  • Proven understanding of the design and interpretation of Champion / Challenger scenarios to determine the value of proposed changes to collection strategies.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and concepts such as Student T tests and Regression considered an asset.
  • Experience working with large databases, data mining and/or data warehousing.
  • Strong data science capabilities, with proven experience in manipulating data using tools like SAS and SQL to create valuable insights from large datasets.
  • Expert skill level with Microsoft Excel pivot tables and functions and Microsoft Access with a practical understanding of VBA coding.
  • Practical experience with Business Information visualization tools such as Power BI and QuickSight considered an asset.
  • Organized and effective communication skills (oral and written) accompanied by the ability to interact with all levels and departments of the organization.
  • Ability to handle routine tasks needed to run the business and assist with new projects while maintaining quality and meeting expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to be flexible and with a positive attitude toward a progressively changing environment.
