What You will Be Doing

The Enterprise Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence team is the center of AI excellence within CIBC, leading the way in applying best practices in AI, machine learning, and natural language processing, leveraging the latest technology and platforms. We collaborate with leading academic institutes to promote the exchange of ideas and enrich our talent. Our work covers the entire research lifecycle, from partnering with academia to building production systems. We work with product, technology, and business partners to apply state-of-the-art AI to our business.

With your practical experience in Artificial Intelligence, you will apply your knowledge to solve challenging business problems and build innovative solutions. You’ll interact with groups across the organization, including products, segments, marketing, channels, risk, and capital markets. You’ll work with real-world structured and unstructured datasets to produce end-to-end solutions, taking models from experiment to deployment.

At CIBC, we enable an optimal work environment where you can thrive. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your activities within a hybrid work arrangement, spending 2-3 days per week on-site and the rest remote.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Artificial Intelligence Expertise - Provide AI solutions to solve business problems using statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, GenAI, and optimization techniques. Conduct self-directed research to solve business challenges.

  • Analytical Partner - Work with business units to understand needs, opportunities, and pain points. Translate data into insights and inform decision-making. Build trusting relationships as a trusted analytical partner.

  • Intellectual Curiosity and Continuous Improvement - Continuously enhance AI/ML techniques and approaches. Collaborate with data experts to understand data and engineer relevant features. Mentor junior team members and offer technical leadership.

Who You Are

  • You have a degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • You can demonstrate 3-4 years of experience in machine learning, NLP, NLU, and/or other AI techniques with tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.

  • You have extensive hands-on experience with at least one AI toolkit such as Python or R. Proficient in SQL/Spark scripting, developing robust Python code outside notebooks, creating APIs, and using Git.

  • You have expertise in Python programming, with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.

  • You understand machine learning algorithms including supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning, model selection, training, and evaluation. Experience with prompt engineering and integrating large language models (LLMs) using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or AutoGen. Strong statistical knowledge and proficiency with Git for version control. Ability to write clean, scalable code using object-oriented principles.

  • Hands-on experience with generative models such as GANs, VAEs, and transformers, and their applications. Experience deploying AI models on Azure and Databricks is a plus. Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment is desirable. Knowledge of AI lifecycle management tools is an advantage.
