Reports to the Director, Global Insurance and Risk Management.

What you will do :
  1. Assist with the administration, development, analysis, and management of the Corporation’s insurance programs, providing input and support.
  2. Provide guidance and leadership to Business Units by offering technical expertise and advice on insurance matters, including operation insurance requirements, risk analysis of third-party contracts, and interpretation of insurance policy wordings.
  3. Coordinate with other departments to ensure the Insurance group meets the expectations of the SBUs.
  4. Resolve issues promptly to ensure efficient service delivery.
  5. Gather underwriting information and participate in final insurance purchase decisions.
  6. Review insurance policies for accuracy and completeness, recommending wording improvements.
  7. Conduct technical analysis to support major insurance claims.
  8. Coordinate major claims submissions and negotiate payments with insurers to maximize recoveries.
  9. Work extensively with adjusters and internal staff on claim issues.
  10. Assist in analyzing contracts for risk transfer and drafting appropriate indemnification and insurance clauses.
  11. Support business development projects with insurance guidance and due diligence.
  12. Interact with stakeholders to secure annual insurance coverage placement.
  13. Collaborate with brokers and insurers on policy development, analysis, placement, and renewal strategies.
  14. Prepare reports and presentations for senior committees.
  15. Serve a broad client base within Nutrien and externally, liaising with brokers, adjusters, and insurers.
  16. Assist with Business Continuity Planning.
  17. Support special projects such as M&A due diligence and risk assessments.
What you will bring :
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5)+ years of experience in a corporate finance environment or relevant insurance/risk management industry experience.
  • Enrolment in or completion of professional designations such as CRM, FRM, CIP, or FCIP is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, global, and cross-functional environment.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and flexibility in work approach.
  • Legal principles of tort and contract law knowledge is an asset, as is knowledge of insurance markets.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and time management skills, with the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with sound technical insurance and financial management knowledge.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Claims experience, risk control, and site audit experience are assets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Energetic, self-starter capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Aptitude for insurance processes and analytical thinking.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Oracle, and SAP; experience with risk management systems like Riskonnect is an asset.
