Job description

Do you love ensuring that an organization's books and records are accurate and up-to-date? Do you enjoy mentoring and growing others? Do you enjoy being part of a team that is making a real difference to the success of small business owners? If so, read on.

FundThrough is looking for a smart, passionate, resourceful Sr. Accountant, Team Lead to join us on our mission to help business owners end the “wait” associated with payment terms. You will report to our controller and have the opportunity to work closely with our co-founders.

About the company :

FundThrough is a leading fintech company accelerating cash flow and enabling growth for small and medium-sized businesses that sell to large customers and wait to get paid. Based in Toronto and operating across North America, FundThrough’s AI-powered invoice funding platform gives B2B businesses fast, customized funding offers to get their invoices paid in a few days – rather than a few months – and get quick access to cash they’ve already earned.

Responsibilities :

  1. Manage and develop junior team members (currently 3), including coaching, providing support, and overseeing their work in bank reconciliations and accounts payable.
  2. Lead the month-end close process in a timely manner, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, foreign exchange, transfer pricing, and preparing consolidated financial statements.
  3. Serve as the point person for FundThrough’s external audit and coordinate efforts within FundThrough to provide the necessary documentation and support to the auditors.
  4. Play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the company and assist the controller with cash flow management.
  5. Collaborate with the strategic finance team to support external reporting.
  6. Maintain the internal accounting policies and processes for adherence to applicable accounting standards with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  7. Assist with FundThrough's compliance reporting in the USA and Canada.
  8. Work with the controller, co-founders, & strategic finance on ad hoc projects as needed.

Our ideal fit :

  • Passion for our mission of empowering small businesses to thrive.
  • A candidate who is looking to take the next step in their career by growing their responsibilities and helping take the finance team to the next level.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working in a team and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Drives process improvements and utilizes automation.
  • Curious, not afraid to ask questions, and a problem-solver.
  • An exceptional communicator with strong integrity.
  • Likes to take initiative and has a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Works well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • 2+ years experience managing teams (2-5 people).
  • 4+ years of experience in an accounting position.
  • CPA designation (or wrote Fall 2024 CFE).
  • Intermediate to advanced Google Sheet + Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with databases and queries (using SQL) and Periscope.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or other ERP systems is an asset.
  • Highly organized and reliable, with an eye for detail.
  • Opportunity to leave your mark on a growing startup.
  • An incredibly diverse team of brilliant minds from all over the world.
  • Competitive compensation, including stock options.
  • Health benefits.
  • Family-friendly policies.
  • Flexible work-from-home policy.
  • A fully stocked kitchen, birthday treats, and a lunch of your choice every week (one of our values is Fun & Food!).

We understand that Covid has shifted the way we work. Our Downtown Toronto office is open and we encourage FundThrough’ers based within the GTA to use it. Preference for this role is for it to be hybrid within the GTA, but we are also open to considering fully remote candidates based on experience.

Please note that due to the sensitive nature of the work we do, clearing a criminal record check is a condition of employment.

FundThrough encourages applications from candidates with differing abilities. Please let us know if you require accommodation at any stage in the selection process.
