Job summary

NFP, an Aon company, is seeking a Senior Account Manager to lead a portfolio of small group retirement clients within our Group Retirement unit. You will serve as the primary consultant, foster relationships with plan sponsors, and coordinate with consultants to deliver exceptional service and outcomes.

You'll lead annual plan reviews, ensure governance and regulatory alignment, and identify opportunities for plan enhancements while supporting cross-selling to related lines of business.

Qualifications

  • LLQP is required or to be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Typically 5+ years in the group insurance industry, specifically group retirement services.
  • Strong oral and written communication, including business writing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with the team.
  • Strong decision‑making, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary consultant and day‑to‑day relationship manager for a block of small group retirement plan clients.
  • Build long‑term relationships with plan sponsors and internal stakeholders to support retention.
  • Lead annual plan reviews and ongoing discussions on plan performance and outcomes.
  • Provide governance guidance and ensure regulatory compliance for plans.
  • Support clients through changes, transitions, or projects with clear communication.
  • Identify new business opportunities and coordinate setup of new group retirement plans.
  • Assist in governance reviews scheduling and content creation.
  • Assist in implementing program amendments with carriers on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare for employee presentations and benefit fairs.
  • Provide ongoing support to Plan Administrators on retirement plan administration.
  • Generate revenue growth through cross‑selling to related lines of coverage.

Job Duration: Full-Time, Permanent

Wage Transparency: The base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Account Manager to join our Group Retirement team as a key contributor. The successful candidate will manage a dedicated portfolio of retirement plan clients within our small business segment while working both independently and collaboratively with consultants and analysts to support the broader retirement practice. This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with internal partners, clients, and carrier stakeholders to ensure the delivery of exceptional service and client outcomes. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to proactively identify opportunities to enhance plan effectiveness while ensuring regulatory and best practice compliance.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the primary consultant and day to day relationship manager for an assigned block of small group retirement plan clients, ensuring consistent, high quality service
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with plan sponsors, committees, and internal stakeholders to support client retention and satisfaction
  • Lead annual plan reviews and ongoing touchpoints to assess plan performance, member outcomes, and alignment with client objective
  • Provide guidance on plan governance, CAP Guidelines, and applicable legislative and regulatory requirements (federal and provincial
  • Support clients through plan changes, vendor transitions, or special projects, ensuring a smooth and well communicated experience
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by liaising with prospects, understanding their needs, and coordinating the setup and implementation of new group retirement plans
  • Assist with scheduling and content creation of retirement plan governance reviews
  • Assist in the implementation and amendments of programs with the insurance carrier on behalf of the client;
  • Prepare for and participate in employee presentations, meetings and benefit fairs
  • Provide ongoing support to Plan Administrators as it relates to the administration of their retirement plan
  • Generate revenue growth opportunities by identifying needs for additional lines of coverage, cross‑selling to P&C lines and Wealth Management departments
What You Bring
  • Valid LLQP (will be required to obtain within one year of employment date if not already in place)
  • Bilingual would be considered an asset
  • Typically, 5+ in the group insurance industry specifically in group retirement services.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including business writing skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail including strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize/manage workload under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work autonomously but also able to collaborate well with team
  • Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
