We are seeking a very senior engineer — someone who has been a CTO, Director of Engineering, Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or a technical founder. You should be confident in architecting solutions, leading small teams, and making sound technical decisions.

You will work closely with our Director of Engineering to drive product development and technical execution.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building excellent software and leading engineering efforts.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing, building, and maintaining backend services (primarily TypeScript, React 19, Firebase, SQL).
• Leading development of our React + TypeScript web applications.
• Writing Cloud Functions and serverless APIs.
• Updating and evolving our Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android) scoring apps (bonus if you know these, but not required).
• Scoping and architecting new features and products.
• Leading small development teams (internal and external).
• Collaborating with our Director of Engineering on major initiatives.
• Mentoring junior developers and setting technical direction.

Prerequisites

• Eligible to work in Canada.
• 8+ years of professional experience (excluding internships or academic work).
• Significant senior experience (e.g., CTO, Director, Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Senior Engineer).
• Deep expertise with TypeScript and modern web technologies.
• Strong backend experience — Golang preferred, but other scalable backends considered.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to scope, lead, and deliver complete products, not just small features.
