The Community Recreation Branch is responsible for delivering high-quality, community-based recreation programs and services to Toronto's diverse neighborhoods. We offer programs that promote social and physical development for all ages, especially children and youth. Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and leads instructional sports programs.
  • Evaluates participants and completes progress reports.
  • Stores equipment safely and securely.
  • Performs administrative tasks to support the program.
  • Interacts with staff, parents, and participants to provide program information.
  • Develops and prepares individuals or teams for competition.
  • Ensures staff follow the principles of Healthy Child Development (HIGH FIVE) in program planning and delivery.
  • Ensures facilities, equipment, and supplies meet health and safety standards.
  • Addresses incidents, problems, and emergencies in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Significant experience with the target age group in sports such as Ball Hockey, Soccer, or Basketball.
  • Experience as a participant or assistant instructor in the sport.
  • Certification in Multisport A, Level 1 technical, community coach technical, or other recognized sport-specific accreditation.
  • Current Emergency First Aid certification recognized by WSIB.
  • Certification in Parks and Recreation Ontario's Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD), provided at no cost upon conditional employment offer.
