Job description

Our North Shore CYMH team is a blend of experience and fresh perspectives with 13 dedicated clinicians and 2 supportive team leaders. We work closely with community partners like school counsellors teachers youth workers and social workers providing wraparound support for children youth and their families. Together were making a meaningful impact by helping families build skills to better manage mental health challenges and guiding them to additional resources for longterm wellbeing. The collaborative spirit of this team shines in our shared commitment to every familys journey to wellness.

The Role

As a Mental Health Clinician on our team you will have the opportunity to provide direct clinical services such as intake assessment treatment suicide risk assessment safety plans and crisis intervention for children and youth from birth to age 18 and their families. Clinicians work in flexible ways including in home school and community settings. Through consultation the CYMH Clinician will build and maintain relationships to support coordinated services and positive outcomes for children youth and families.

You will also have the participate in trainings such as CBTTrauma Emotion Focused Family Therapy Suicide Risk Assessment Early Psychosis and more.

You will play a vital role in leading impactful workshops like Circle of Security EmotionFocused Family Therapy ADHD Parent / Caregiver groups and Connect Parent. Your work directly improves the mental health and functioning of children and youth creating a meaningful difference for families. With the support of a collaborative team and opportunities for ongoing training and clinical discussions youll continuously grow in your practice and bring valuable insights to the community.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters in Counselling Social Work Educational Counselling Clinical Counselling Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Masters level in a similar subject may be considered.

NOTE : If your degree was obtained outside of Canada you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

  • Minimum of one year fulltime equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Drivers license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following :

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Applicants who selfidentify as Indigenous (First Nations Mtis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
