Job Description

The Spiritual Health Practitioner works collaboratively within inter-professional teams at Providence Care to enhance quality of life through psychosociospiritual therapeutic approaches. They support individuals and families in developing hopeful goals, including advance care planning and end-of-life preparation, while respecting diverse belief systems and world views.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Religious, Theological, or Pastoral studies
  • Certification as Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner and/or Certified Psychospiritual Therapist with CASC, or in process of certification
  • Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or in process of registration
  • Two years of related spiritual health clinical practice experience
  • Good standing with one’s faith community and mandate for ministry
  • No ongoing investigations by relevant professional bodies

Position Responsibilities

  • Conduct spiritual health assessments and develop care plans
  • Provide empathic support and interventions to mobilize spiritual resources
  • Facilitate rituals and ceremonies in line with patient beliefs
  • Participate in inter-professional team consultations to include spiritual health perspectives
  • Educate patients, families, and staff about spiritual health
