Job summary

The County of Essex invites applications for a Permanent Part Time Maintenance position at Sun Parlor Home in Leamington, Ontario. The role focuses on preventative and emergency repairs, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance to support resident care.

We are seeking candidates with a Secondary School Diploma and technical maintenance training, 2-4 years of related experience, and knowledge of building control systems.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma and technical/maintenance training.
• 2-4 years related maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of computerized building control systems preferred.
• 2 years mechanical systems experience.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Valid driver's license with clean abstract.
• Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check required.
• Must pass maintenance test (written and practical).
• Must be available to work shift work and every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Emergency repairs to plumbing, equipment and machinery.
• Collection of refuse and recycling.
• Cleaning of service areas.
• Assisting with incoming deliveries.
• Snow removal and grass cutting based on season.
• Attend supplier locations to obtain parts and equipment.
• Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to and promote a safe and secure work environment.
• Other related duties as assigned by management.

As a not-for-profit municipally owned and subsidized long-term care home, with 206 beds, all of our resources are dedicated to our residents.

Day in the Life

• Preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery
• Emergency repairs to plumbing, equipment and machinery
• Collection of refuse and recycling
• Cleaning of service areas

What We Are Looking For

• Secondary School Diploma, Technical & Maintenance Training & Mechanical Abilities
• 2-4 years Related Experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of computerized building control systems preferred
• 2 years mechanical systems experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
• A valid driver's license with a clean abstract as a condition of employment
• A negative Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check required as a condition of employment as per the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007
• Promote the culture of a safe and secure work environment
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Must pass Maintenance Test (written and practical)
• Must be available to work shift work any day of the week and every other weekend
