PERMANENT PART-TIME SPEECH PATHOLOGIST
20HR/ WEEK OVER 3 DAYS
Hunter Valley Private Hospital seeks an enthusiastic Speech Pathologist to join our Allied Health team on a permanent part-time basis. The caseload is predominantly neurological, along with a range of other medical conditions, with delivery of service in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary Allied Health department, which seeks to provide our patients with high quality evidence based, consumer-centred care.
Hunter Valley Private Hospital is an 83 bed hospital. We provide a range of rehabilitation, surgical and medical services including palliative care and pain management. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to experience a varied clinical caseload across the acute and sub-acute setting
Position Summary/Key Responsibilities
- Assessment and management of dysphagia & communication disorders
- Provision of speech and language therapy for inpatient and day patient services (diagnoses of clients include neurological, general medical and surgical conditions)
- Complete relevant documentation including the Functional Independent Measure (FIM)
- Actively participate in case conference / progress meetings within the multi-disciplinary team
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor of Speech Pathology
- Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology medical and/or rehabilitation setting
- Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
- Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible, positive approach to work
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload
- Capacity to work as sole clinician
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to quality processes, and the application of evidenced based practice within speech pathology.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated willingness to learn
- FIM accreditation
