PERMANENT PART-TIME SPEECH PATHOLOGIST

20HR/ WEEK OVER 3 DAYS

Hunter Valley Private Hospital seeks an enthusiastic Speech Pathologist to join our Allied Health team on a permanent part-time basis. The caseload is predominantly neurological, along with a range of other medical conditions, with delivery of service in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary Allied Health department, which seeks to provide our patients with high quality evidence based, consumer-centred care.

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is an 83 bed hospital. We provide a range of rehabilitation, surgical and medical services including palliative care and pain management. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to experience a varied clinical caseload across the acute and sub-acute setting

Position Summary/Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment and management of dysphagia & communication disorders
  • Provision of speech and language therapy for inpatient and day patient services (diagnoses of clients include neurological, general medical and surgical conditions)
  • Complete relevant documentation including the Functional Independent Measure (FIM)
  • Actively participate in case conference / progress meetings within the multi-disciplinary team

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology
  • Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology medical and/or rehabilitation setting
  • Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible, positive approach to work
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload
  • Capacity to work as sole clinician
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to quality processes, and the application of evidenced based practice within speech pathology.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn
  • FIM accreditation
