Job summary

Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. Catharines, ON seeks a Communications Disorders Assistant for a temporary full-time role.

The successful candidate will work under Speech-Language Pathologists to deliver one-to-one or small group therapy and support departmental operations. The position requires a graduate diploma/certificate in Communicative Disorders, strong organization, and English/French language skills; bilingual ability is an asset.

Qualifications

• Graduate diploma or certificate in Communicative Disorders from a recognized college.
• Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to work independently.
• Computer skills to generate reports and enter patient data.
• Ability to communicate with patients, families and team with confidentiality and courtesy.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapy independently to meet SLP goals.
• Collaborate with an interprofessional health care team.
• Follow treatment plans or protocols under supervision of the SLP/Audiologist.
• Prepare clinical space and equipment for assessments and treatment.
• Document patient progress and report to supervising therapist.
• Perform pure tone screening when appropriate.
• Accept other duties as required.
