Job summary

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a casual Speech-Language Pathologist to join their team. POSITION: SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST – SmallTALK, Therapies

POSITION SUMMARY: A speech-language pathologist is responsible for the assessment, treatment, education and management of referred patients.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Preschool Speech and Language

Manager, Therapies & Professional Practice

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $44.67 to $57.90 per hour

Qualifications

  • Masters degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology
  • A member in good standing of the College of Audiologists and Speech and Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASPLO)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience

  • Preference is given to individuals possessing a minimum of 1 year clinical experience in the identification and treatment of speech and language delays and disorders
  • Experience in provision of Early Language Parent Training (e.g. Hanen Programs) and family education regarding management of/family interaction with children with communication disorders
  • Experience with providing assessment and treatment through virtual platforms
  • Clinical expertise and experience in stroke rehabilitation and demonstrated knowledge of current stroke rehabilitation best practices including management of dysphagia.
  • Experience in both clinical and video fluoroscopic assessment of swallowing
  • Experience with inpatient service delivery is an asset.
  • Experience with critical care patients is an asset.

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an interprofessional collaborative environment.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with theories and principles guiding adult learning and patient self-management approaches.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, problem-solving and innovation skills.
  • Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative.
  • Evidence of continued professional growth and/or professional development
  • Appreciation of resource utilization.
  • Computer skills, particularly Meditech, MS Office, and/or other software
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to vehicle for travel throughout the region.
