This position is a per diem SLP position for work on an NIH funded project (PI Antje Mefferd). It focuses on the articulation impairment profiles of adults with dysarthria and examines perceptual speech characteristics and their underlying speech motor
impairments of the lips, tongue, and jaw in patients with various neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis).
Location : Vanderbilt University Medical Center (main campus as well as Green Hills MS specialty clinic)
Schedule : Monday–Friday (Fridays required)

About The Role
Vanderbilt Health is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join a cutting-edge NIH-funded research project focused on articulation impairments in adults with dysarthria. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical care and academic research, contributing to groundbreaking studies on neurological speech disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, ALS, Huntington’s disease, and MS.
Schedule : Monday–Friday business hours. Fridays are required as those are clinic days.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES :
SPEECH PATHOLOGY PATIENT EVALUATION : Demonstrates proficiency in evaluating patients with speech-language, auditory, and / or swallowing / oral feeding deficits using the appropriate testing methods for the patient type and diagnosis. Interprets the results of the assessment and their significance for the patient, family, and the research team.
SPEECH PATHOLOGY PATIENT & FAMILY EDUCATION : Demonstrates proficiency in communicating functional impact of assessment findings and disease process. Considers the communication needs / level of understanding of audience and may share appropriate information / literature.
