Detailed Overview

The role involves providing speech language pathology services in accordance with professional standards, collaborating with the interprofessional care team, conducting assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and engaging in research and quality activities.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments of patients' communication and swallowing functions, review records, and consult with the healthcare team.
  • Establish diagnoses and develop evidence-based intervention strategies aligned with patient goals.
  • Implement interventions, educate patients and caregivers, and participate in care planning.
  • Evaluate intervention effectiveness, document progress, and modify plans as needed.
  • Facilitate referrals, collaborate with families, and maintain thorough records.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and serve as a resource for colleagues and students.
  • Participate in research, projects, and committees to enhance practice quality.
Qualifications

Education and Experience: Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC, including applicable certifications.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of speech language pathology practices, communication skills, ability to work independently and in teams, and physical capacity to perform duties.
