Job summary

Island Health in Port Alberni seeks an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to provide communication and dysphagia services to adults in inpatient and outpatient settings, including remote support to Tofino General Hospital.

The position is temporary, full-time at West Coast General Hospital with an end date around April 28, 2028; start August 4, 2026; hours 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, with weekends and statutory holidays off.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized university program in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Responsibilities

  • The Speech-Language Pathologist provides communication and dysphagia services to adults (19+) across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • The position will also provide remote support to Tofino General Hospital.
  • Travel to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital may be occasionally required for training purposes.

This is a temporary, full-time position at West Coast General Hospital, with a planned end date of approximately April 28, 2028. You’ll work Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with weekends and statutory holidays off. The planned start date is August 4, 2026.
