Job Summary & Requirements:

As part of the Child Development Services program at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, the Preschool Speech and Language Program helps children and their families develop the skills needed to promote communication and emergent literacy. RVH is the lead agency for this program and also provides services in satellite offices in Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Collingwood, Midland and Orillia. The team consists of Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorder Assistants.

Qualifications:

Education:

  1. Master’s degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology.

Experience:

  1. Experience with infants and preschool and early school age children in both clinic and community settings an asset. Experience working within interprofessional teams and a variety of treatment models, particularly a coaching paradigm, preferred.
  2. Certification in Hanen Parent Education Programs including It Takes Two to Talk, More than Words, Target Word, Learning Language and Loving it an asset.
  3. Sound knowledge of Visual Communication Systems and supporting software is an asset.
  4. Level one ADP Authorization for Assistive Communication Devices is an asset.
  5. Job specific competencies for assigned specialty areas.
  6. Sound knowledge of the Integrated Services for Children Information System (ISCIS), Microsoft Office and Outlook is an asset.
  7. Sound knowledge of the Provincial Outcome Measures Tool for Preschool Speech and Language Initiatives is an asset.
  8. Must possess sound professional judgment, tact, initiative and flexibility in adapting to a variety of treatment models and settings. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with families and other professionals/caregivers as a peer and instructor essential.

Other:

  1. Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
  2. Must have valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
  3. New grads welcome to apply.

  5. 1 paid study week off prior to the CETP exam for new grads.
