Job summary

Flourish is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Assistant to support children in schools across the Interior of BC. You’ll work under a registered SLP to advance speech, language, and literacy skills in group or one-to-one sessions.

You’ll implement therapy plans, prepare materials, and record progress while collaborating with families, educators, and the SLP. The role emphasizes population-specific culturally safe practice and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Speech-Language Assistants program or equivalent.
  • Ability to work under supervision of a registered SLP.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with families and educators.

Responsibilities

  • Implement therapy plans in schools with students (1:1 or small groups).
  • Prepare and organize materials and resources (digital and print).
  • Collaborate with the SLP to ensure therapy goals are appropriate.
  • Bring creativity and enthusiasm to sessions to engage students.
  • Track and document student progress with accurate data.
  • Stay within the scope of practice of an SLA and defer to the SLP when needed.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities to grow your skills.

Your Role

As a Speech-Language Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a registered SLP to help children build their speech, language, and literacy skills. Your work will include:

  • Implementing therapy plans in schools with students (1:1 or small groups)
  • Preparing and organizing materials and resources (digital and print)
  • Collaborating with the SLP to ensure therapy goals are appropriate and well-targeted
  • Bringing creativity and enthusiasm to sessions to keep students engaged
  • Tracking and documenting student progress through accurate data collection
  • Staying within the scope of practice of an SLA and knowing when to defer to the SLP
  • Participating in professional learning opportunities to grow your skills
