ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client, a reputable design and architecture firm, is looking for a Specifications Writer to support a variety of light industrial, agricultural, and commercial projects. This role focuses on maintaining consistent, high-quality specifications, mentoring teams, and supporting construction documentation from early design through to completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop and maintain standardized, up-to-date specifications.
2. Guide project teams through specification development across all phases.
3. Integrate sustainable materials and maintain a vetted materials list.
4. Support tendering, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
5. Maintain the material library and liaise with vendors to stay informed on product innovations.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 5+ years of experience in specification writing.
2. Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes and construction materials.
3. Experience with light industrial, agricultural, and/or commercial projects preferred.
4. Understanding of sustainable design practices.
5. Familiarity with tendering and contract administration processes.
6. CSC or CSI membership is a plus.
7. Proficiency in BIM/specification software is an asset.
