Job summary

Allegion Canada is seeking candidates for the Sales Development Program – Specification Track. You will rotate through a 9‑month program, relocate to Denver for training, then transition to your regional office to write specifications with mentorship.

Successful candidates will advance to a full‑time Specification Writer role, traveling as needed to support architects and engineers while delivering compliant door hardware specifications.

Qualifications

• Degree/diploma in Architectural Technology or related field is preferred.
• Bilingual (French/English) proficiency is an asset.
• Willingness to travel 10-25% (domestic/international USA).
• Proficiency with MS Office tools and industry software.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to learn industry-specific software.

Responsibilities

• Create technical hardware sets and specifications for the architectural community, including code compliance for new construction and aftermarket requests.
• Provide solutions to architects on product application requirements.
• Participate in pre- and post-installation meetings and assist with revisions and access control coordination.
• Demonstrate understanding of electro-mechanical products and access control software.
• Communicate door hardware coordination needs and conflicts (access control, electrical, doors).
• Collaborate with the team to deliver a positive customer experience and meet project commitments.
• Keep up-to-date on industry/competitor products and market trends.

Sales Development Program – Specification Track

We are looking for Specification Consultants to join our Allegion team as part of our Sales Development Program – Specification Track! As part of the program, you will complete two rotations in the span of 9 months. This immersive program includes in depth training and development to prepare you for your role of providing access solutions by creating door hardware specifications. In the first six months of the training program, you will relocate to our training facility in Denver, Colorado. Here you will participate in classroom style training with others in your cohort. During this segment, you will learn about the industry, our products, and codes as well as how to read blueprints. The program allows you to learn about and work with customers such as Architects, Electrical Engineers, and Security Consultants by providing professional consultation and specification services. In the last three months of the training program, you will transfer to your permanent location in your respective regional sales office. Here you will prepare for your full‑time role by writing specifications with the help and supervision of your team so that you are prepared to hit your market ready for success! Successful candidates completing the 12‑month program, will lead to full‑time employment as a Specification Writer at Allegion Canada

Please note – this position requires eligibility to travel to the United States to complete a required training program. Any offer of employment will be conditional on the successful candidate satisfying that requirement. The Company will support and fund the immigration process required for the training program.

What You Will Do:

Rotational Training Key Elements:

• Follow and complete the immersive SDP – Specification Track Program curriculum to increase knowledge about Allegion customers, door and door hardware products, and specification and sales processes.
• Attend all required internal training and additional external product training and program events to obtain a further understanding of codes, applications, and Allegion products and Customers.
• Immerse yourself in Allegion’s culture by attending networking and professional development events to gain valuable relationships throughout the organization
• Learn how to utilize Allegion tools/resources (for example: Overtur, Dynamics CRM) to gather and maintain information on projects.
• Graduate from 9‑month training program with in depth knowledge of role, best practices, policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure best in class customer experiences.

Full-Time Role Responsibilities:

• Create technical hardware sets and specifications for the architectural community, including code compliance for new construction projects as well as aftermarket requests.
• Provide solutions to architects on product application requirements.
• Participate in pre and post installation meetings as needed and assist with revisions, access control coordination, and requests for information during all phases of the project.
• Exhibit a basic understanding of electro‑mechanical products and solutions including access control and software.
• Communicate door hardware coordination requirements and/or conflicts, such as access control, electrical requirements, and specialty doors.
• Work in conjunction with your team to provide a positive customer experience and deliver on project commitments.
• Maintain excellent industry/competitor product knowledge by reviewing and understanding market data of competitive activity. Adapt to changes in the marketplace.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

• A College diploma in Advanced Architectural Technology, Architectural Technology, Construction Engineering Technology Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, influencing skills essential along with a bias for action.
• Bilingual (French/English) proficiency (written, spoken) is an asset
• Strong mechanical and electronics aptitude
• Ability to travel 10-25% (Domestical/International (USA))
• Ability to learn industry specific software, proficiency in MS Office tools
• Detail oriented with a high level of organization and time management skills
