An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Underwriter for their Private Banking division. This position is responsible for evaluating and underwriting Private Banking loan applications, specifically for Tailored Lending products. Works independently to assess risk and creditworthiness and reviews work of other underwriters. Collaborates with sales associates and senior credit personnel on loan decisions and structure, ensuring that lending activities comply with federal and state regulations. This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office in either Boston, MA or Menlo Park, CA. Underwriting - Evaluates credit applications according to applicable regulations, FCB credit standards, procedures, and guidelines. Assesses personal and business financial statements to determine risk and creditworthiness. Conducts detailed cash flow analysis. Completes written credit memorandum detailing risks, mitigants, and sources of repayment. Identifies exceptions to credit standards and assigns risk ratings.
Risk Management - Identifies credit and other risks during initial underwriting of loan requests. Works closely with Bank associates and partners to resolve risk issues. Participates in periodic portfolio reviews and client discussions to identify and manage emerging risks affecting borrowers' repayment ability.
Business Support - Assists sales team with preliminary screening of opportunities. Resolves inquiries on underwriting and denial compliance. Drives efficiency in credit approval, loan documentation, and closing processes
Mentoring - Guides less experienced underwriters in credit analysis and process. Reviews credit memoranda for errors and opportunities for improvement.

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in consumer or commercial underwriting.
