This position offers a full-time training opportunity (theory and practicum) designed to prepare staff for work in a specific Island Health specialty department. Upon successful completion, staff will be placed into a regular full-time rotation within the trained specialty department.
Note: There is an 18-month return of service requirement as a regular/permanent employee in the department where training was completed. Staff may transfer between Island Health departments within that specialty. The post-basic training program requires full-time attendance. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate, the nurse plans and provides direct care to patients/residents in hospital or community settings, adhering to unit philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.
Current registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN, with recent medical and/or surgical experience. After completing the specialty training, employees will transition into a regular position within the department.
