Job description

This position offers a full-time training opportunity (theory and practicum) to prepare staff for roles within a specified Island Health specialty department. Upon successful completion, staff will be placed in a regular full-time rotation within that department.

Note: There is an 18-month return of service requirement as a regular/permanent employee within the Island Health specialty department. Staff may transfer between departments within that specialty. This position reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Responsibilities include planning and providing direct nursing care in hospital or community settings, consistent with the unit's philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN, with recent medical and/or surgical experience. Upon completing the specialty training, the employee will transition into a regular position within the department.

Hours may vary based on operational needs and collective agreement provisions.
