Specialty RN Training Opportunity - Emergency

Join to apply for the Specialty RN Training Opportunity - Emergency role at Island Health.

Job Description

This position offers a full-time training opportunity (theory and practicum) to prepare staff for work in the specified Island Health specialty department. Upon completion, staff will be placed into a regular full-time rotation within the trained specialty department.

Note: There is an 18-month return of service requirement as a regular/permanent employee within the department. Staff may transfer between departments within that specialty. The post-basic training requires full-time attendance. More information is available at: Professional Practice Website.

In alignment with Island Health’s Vision, Purpose, and Values, patient and staff safety are priorities, and continuous improvement in quality and safety is expected.

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Provides direct nursing care in hospital or community settings, adhering to unit philosophy, policies, and BCCNM Standards.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience: Registered with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as an RN, with recent medical and/or surgical experience. Upon training completion, candidates will be transitioned into a regular position within the department.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize workload and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, physicians, community agencies, patients, and families.
  • Physical capacity to perform job duties.
