Job Description: This position offers a full-time training opportunity (theory and practicum) to prepare staff for work in the Island Health specialty department. Upon completion, staff will be placed into a regular full-time rotation in the trained specialty department. The role emphasizes patient and staff safety, aligning with the Vision, Purpose, and Values of Vancouver Island Health Authority. Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate, and involves planning and providing direct nursing care in hospital or community settings, following organizational policies and standards.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN, with recent medical and/or surgical experience. Post-training, candidates will transition into a regular position within the specialty department. Work hours and area may change based on operational needs and collective agreement provisions.
Specialized ICU/HAU training opportunity with a compressed timeframe. Prerequisites include ECG course completion (BCIT NSCC 7150 or Mosby's ECG Curriculum Island Health LMS 17467 with BCIT PLAR recognition and BCIT NSCC 7120).
