Job description

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The main objective of this position is to ensure accurate receiving and shipping of specialty gases products to meet internal and external customer needs. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, controlling backorders, and assisting in managing dead stock and turns. Keeping good records of upcoming and outgoing stock levels is essential. Additionally, the incumbent must maintain the organization of the plant while promoting ALC’s health and safety objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Receiving and inspecting inventory, verifying against purchase orders, and ensuring accuracy in quantities and quality. Taking corrective actions for overages, shortages, damages, incorrect items, late shipments, claims, and documentation issues.
  2. Maintaining all backorder files and advising on shipment dates.
  3. Preparing shipments by packing, labeling, and ensuring proper packaging for safe transit, along with preparing shipping documents and managing them in the internal system.
  4. Managing inventory by maintaining accurate records of stock levels, locations, and movements using the inventory management system. Organizing stock for efficient picking and conducting periodic cycle counts.
  5. Sorting and storing materials and equipment safely, and assisting with order picking for drivers and shippers/receivers.
  6. Shipping according to schedule, investigating backorders, and ensuring timely, cost-effective transportation.
  7. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, especially for the handling of dangerous goods.
  8. Managing stock min/max levels and collaborating with the asset team to resolve issues and implement corrective measures.
  9. Closing shipping documents in the system and maintaining accurate shipment records.
  10. Maintaining effective communication with customers, account executives, shipping, laboratory, and production departments regarding shipment status and issues.
  11. Assisting with daily production plans to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Working closely with plant operators and laboratory technicians to resolve problems and improve site activities.
  • Promoting safety by adhering to procedures, participating in safety programs, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Are you a MATCH?

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with forklift and pallet jack, with a valid driving license.
  • Ability to lift 50-60 lbs repeatedly without assistance.
  • Transportation and Dangerous Goods training preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory, logistics, operational transport control; computer literate; problem-solving; detail-oriented; customer-focused.
