Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Hemodialysis department at the Ksyen Regional Hospital.

In accordance with established vision values and standards of the organization, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.

The Registered Nurse practices in a variety of clinical settings and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse ensures the delivery of client-centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

Northern Health Regional Hemodialysis Training Program Details:
• There are 2 training positions available for 2025/2026
• Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
• Successful candidates may be required complete pre-requisite courses through part-time distance education, on their own time, prior to assuming this position
• Learners should expect to make a 3 - 4 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
• Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, will be required to successfully complete the program
• Flexibility for practicums is necessary
• Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
• Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.
• Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided

Ksyen Regional Hospital
The new Ksyen Regional Hospital welcomed its first patients on November 24, 2024. More than double the size of the previous hospital, the facility features 82 beds, private rooms, and is a centre for trauma services, orthopedic surgeries, pathology, radiology, clinical support, and pharmacy services. The hospital is also a training site for medical students in the Northern Medical Program.

Terrace The thriving community of Terrace is northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains, pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and natural resources. The population is approximately 12,700. There are nine elementary schools, four secondary schools, and Northwest Community College and a UNBC campus. Check out Terrace where there is always something new to experience.

Qualfications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant (BCCNM).
• Successful completion of recognized advanced clinical preparation in the assigned renal specialty area plus three years recent related experience in the assigned renal specialty area, (which may include experience in chronic kidney disease, peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis and/or organ transplantation depending on the assigned clinical area); or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid BC Driver's License required.

• Assessment and Intervention - Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Communication - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
• Critical Thinking - Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
• Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice - Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
• Teaching - Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
• Management - Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
• Leadership - Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
• Knowledge Integration - Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
• Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
