Job description

Under the direction of the Service Supervisor, the Specialized Services Coordinator will administer and coordinate the volunteer and parent support programs. The position works in compliance with KGCFS, the Volunteer Services Manual, and relevant policies.

Qualifications
  • Social Services Diploma/Native Child and Family Worker Diploma, or a Business Administration Diploma, or a related diploma with at least two (2) years of direct experience in indigenous child welfare.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Driver’s License, personal insurance coverage, and have access to a reliable vehicle.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Child and Family Services Act, regulations, standards, policy directives, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Anishinaabemowin and willingness to continue learning the language.
  • Active participation in the Anishinaabe community, with knowledge of teachings from the medicine wheel.
  • Experience applying Indigenous practices and approaches in social work to support family well-being.
  • Understanding of Anishinaabe history, clan systems, protocols, etiquette, culture, traditions, ceremonies, principles, and values.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing, oral presentation, and facilitation.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant social services systems.
  • Strong organizational, evaluation, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment

The work may involve exposure to wood smoke and sacred medicines used in traditional practices, including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage, or cedar. Candidates must reside within the service area.
