Job summary

The City of Burlington is seeking certified Bootcamp instructors who love fitness, motivating people, and delivering high-quality, safe and enjoyable classes for all levels. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule aligned with programming needs, including morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Certification from a recognized fitness association for fitness instruction (e.g., YMCA, CanFitPro).
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Patience, active listening, and firm but fair decision-making.
• Experience with Adults and/or Older Adults (55+) is an asset.
• Mandatory training completed prior to first shift; blended online/in-person learning.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining required certifications and training; providing feedback for improvements.

Position Overview

The City of Burlington is looking for certified Bootcamp instructor that love fitness, motivating people and are committed to delivering high quality, safe and enjoyable classes for all levels of participants. This position is a part-time position with a flexible schedule based on programming needs. Hours of work may include morning, afternoon, evening and/or weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

Program Instructors are responsible for:

• Developing, delivering and facilitating inclusive recreational programs to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all program participants. Creating program plans and reviewing them each season as needed.
• Ensuring safety of participants and adhering to all health and safety protocols.
• Maintaining required certifications, completing required and mandatory training and providing recommendations regarding customer feedback, lesson modification, and activity enhancements.
• During program delivery, modifying structure or format of class is needed to accommodate participant numbers and needs.
• Working collaboratively with Customer Experience and Facility Operations staff.
• Report any facility or participant concerns to the Recreation Coordinator
• Keeping accurate attendance records.

Requirements

The successful candidates will have:

• Certification from a recognized fitness association for fitness instruction. (e.g. YMCA, CanFitPro, or equivalent)
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Display patience, active listening skills and firm but fair decision-making skills.
• Experience working with Adults and/or Older Adults (55 years of age and over) is an asset.
• All staff must complete mandatory training prior to their first shift; training is offered through a combination of online and in-person learning.

Preference will be given to applicants with previous fitness instructing experience. This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Applications will be considered for any openings that become available between now and November 10, 2026.
