Position Summary

Are you a Specialized Mental Health and Substance Use Liaison looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Specialized Services department.

In accordance with the Mission and Values of Northern Health, and working collaboratively with the interprofessional care team, the Specialized Mental Health and Substance Use Liaison performs intake assessments, offers crisis intervention, and provides input into the care of patients experiencing mental health and/or substance use difficulties in the Emergency Department, Acute care, and community settings. They assist with patient flow, collaborate with emergency and community service providers, and help adapt care plans to address MHSU needs, with final dispositions authorized by physicians or psychiatrists. The role works closely with community mental health teams, agencies, and other providers.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 09:18 to 20:30, Rotating

Kitimat General Hospital and Health Centre is a 20-bed Acute Care unit including 2 maternity beds, integrating acute, residential, public health, and community care. Services include Emergency, Physiotherapy, Radiology, Laboratory, Diabetes and Chronic Disease management, Outpatient Community Chemotherapy, Regional Orthopaedic Centre, Regional Palliative Care, Mountainview Lodge, Public Health, and more.

Kitimat is located on the Douglas Channel, surrounded by natural beauty. It is a young coastal community with industries like aluminum, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals. The population is approximately 8,236, with schools and community amenities. Kitimat offers a variety of experiences and outdoor activities.
