Job summary

The City of Belleville is seeking a Specialized Instructor, Certified (Pilates) to lead Pilates programs at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. The role is temporary part-time with variable day, evening, and weekend shifts, totaling 1–5 hours per week.

Under the Recreation Programmer, you will instruct, lead, and administer Pilates classes, ensuring participant safety, maintaining records, and providing excellent customer service. Certification and First Aid are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, at minimum.
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED.
• Pilates certification from a recognized agency.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Represent the City of Belleville professionally according to Department policies.
• Ensure safety and supervision of participants following rules and regulations.
• Be knowledgeable of City Programs and maintain strong public relations.
• Provide instruction and leadership for the designated Pilates program.
• Conduct ongoing evaluations and provide feedback to the Recreation Coordinator.
• Complete attendance and required paperwork per Department procedures.
• Assess and respond to emergencies and file necessary reports.
• Deliver excellent customer service and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Keep all required certifications current and up-to-date.
• Attend all trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.

Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, strategic, and dynamic individual to join our Community Services Department - Recreation Division as a Specialized Instructor, Certified (Pilates).

Position Type: Temporary Part Time

Hours: Hours of work vary – daytime, evening and weekend shifts are available. 1-5 hours per week.

Employee Group: Non-Union

Salary: $32.68- $35.35 per hour

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Reporting directly to the Recreation Programmer, the Instructor provides instruction, leadership, and administration for the City’s Pilates fitness programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department
• Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations
• Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relations skills
• Responsible for providing instruction and leadership for your designated program
• Responsible for on-going evaluations and feedback of the programs to the Recreation Coordinator
• Responsible for the completion of attendance and any required paperwork to effectively administrate this program as per the Department Procedures
• Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports
• Provide the participants with excellent customer service including management of conflict through effective problem solving and communication skills
• This position is responsible for keeping any required certifications current
• Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma, at minimum
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED
• Certified by a recognized and approved Agency – Pilates
• Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post-secondary education in a related discipline
• High Five – Principles of Healthy Older Adult certification
• Previous instructing experience in the assigned or related discipline
• Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills
